Implementing Low Impact Development with Mass Audubon

Barrett Planning Group worked with Mass Audubon to develop training curriculum to assist cities and towns with adopting and implementing Low Impact Development (LID). LID is a multi-faceted approach to reducing stormwater runoff and utilizing it as a resource close to its source. LID techniques can help communities to build their resilience through nature-based solutions to climate stressors.

Cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth are placing more and more focus on the sustainability of their communities, and this training will equip them to let nature do the work. The training offers support for navigating potential barriers, whether they arise from local regulations, costs, or other factors.

Many communities have already begun adopting this creative development strategy, and their experiences will help to inform the efforts of others as this training becomes available.
